Introduction

A little bit about Scalamandre.

In 1929, the house of Scalamandré started in the home of an Italian immigrant couple and quickly found its way through the doors of The White House. For almost a century, Scalamandre has been a destination for connoisseurs of classic design. Since acquiring the company in 2009, Louis Renzo has successfully managed to reinvigorate the company while maintaining the rich heritage of uncompromising quality and excellence.

Since inception, Scalamandre has supplied prominent figures and households with the world’s most prestigious wallpapers and trimmings. Known for their skills, damasks, and velvets, Scalamandre also offers contemporary fabrics and wallpapers, outdoor fabrics, florals, and geometrics.

Aside from residential sales, the world-renowned fabric, wallcovering, trim and furnishings maker, Scalamandre,  is famous for its work in the restoration of period textiles. With unparalleled depth and comprehensiveness of their archives, Louis Renzo and the Scalamandre team offer museum-quality archive of antique textiles, dating back to the 17th century.

For more than seventy years, Scalamandre has produced and reproduced some of the most beautiful, historic fabrics the world has seen. Their fabrics and trimmings have been utilized in many of the most memorable state homes, summer mansions, and museums all over the world. For years, the company has been able to cater to the need for historic textile recreations by many stately homes.

Some of the most unforgettable restoration projects completed by the company include the 18th-century Prestwouks Plantation, which is the family residence of Sor Peyton Skipwith. The Marble House, one of the most opulent summer houses in New Port, Rhode Island, was also restored to its former glory in 1995 by Scalamandre.

In early 2017, Scalamandre merged with Stark Fabric, adding to it’s family the prestigious Old World Weavers and Grey Watkins brands, as well as Boris Kroll.

Scalamdre also represents international brands including Lelievre, Colony and Missoni Home.

Louis Renzo, a savvy, street-smart businessman, has always respected the legacy of Scalamandre and recognized the underlying potential early on. Alongside his sons, Christopher and Louis Nicholas, Renzo has revitalized the Sacalmandre brand once again. As the CEO of Scalamandre, Louis Renzo is committed to reinvigorating their stock and business plan, while also managing to maintain a high level of quality and interpersonal relations.
